Keep your face beat in this heat!

Amidst the Aussie summer; the sizzling beach days, the outdoor picnics that we've grown to love, and of course the torturous 40+ degree days, we can find ourselves weighing up whether it's worth slapping on any makeup. Whether you're a high-coverage wearer or a minimal makeup enthusiast, we believe you can still look fresh & flawless this summer.
Here are some hot tips - pun intended - to increase staying-power, keep protected and maintain that healthy summer glow (and yes we mean glow, not sweat!)
1. MATTIFYING PRIMER
We tend to adopt the mentality that the less products we use, the better. While this is absolutely true in summer, one step we actually don't want to spare is our Primer. In particular, an oil controlling primer.
Applying a mattifying primer is one way to combat the production of unwanted shine, helping your face stay flawless for longer.  READ: more glow, less 'hot mess'.
2. MAKE THE MOVE TO MINERAL
If you can't dare to go bare, don't sweat it - we've got you 'lightly' covered. Mineral Powder Foundation is non-comedogenic and a perfect alternative to a liquid foundation. It will even out your complexion, keep you protected from the sun (read next pointer), absorb oil and moisture, NOT go cakey... honestly, we couldn't fault this product if we tried.

3. SPF. SPF. SPF. We can't stress it enough.
Making a conscious effort to apply extra protection in the sun is paramount for maintaining healthy skin. Not only does SPF protect from harmful UV exposure, but it is a known anti-ageing hack that your future self with thank you for. Apply SPF under your makeup. SPF in your makeup as well? Even better! For extra protection, our Mineral Powder Foundation contains SPF 15 - we can never be too safe!
4. AVOID SHIMMERY HIGHLIGHTERS
Sometimes it feels as though social feeds are saturated with 100 different methods of highlighting. Liquid glows, sparkly highlighters, top it off with extra shimmer. Layers upon layers. While in some instances this may be appropriate (perhaps in editorial settings), emphasising the wrong type of highlighter - particularly in summer - can actually work against you. Not only will it maximise texture, but will contribute to looking greasy and sweaty. A more wearable option would be to opt for a pearly finished illuminator, gently sweeped along the high points of your face: cheek bones, brow bones, cupids bow. Again, less is more. What we want to achieve: your natural glow and a healthy complexion. What we don't want you to achieve: becoming a walking reflection and looking extra-terrestrial!
5. YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND? SMUDGE FREE MASCARAS.
Summer need not be synonymous with coming home to check yourself in the mirror, only to discover that you've had panda eyes for god-knows-how-long. Smudge proof your eyes with a mascara that will stay where it needs to, whether you're swimming or sunbathing. Extra points for something paraben-free. Need a recommendation?
6. DAB
Arms up, slanted upwards to the side, dip your head down.
Wait no, sorry... wrong dab.
Sometimes sweat is inevitable, so if you do need to touch up your face, ensure you dab at the face with a tissue or blotting paper, as opposed to using a sweeping motion. This will help the makeup stay put instead of moving everything around.
7. YOU CAN SKIP LIPSTICK IN FAVOUR OF A MOISTURISING GLOSS.
Ditch the dry/ cracked/ chapped look this summer and opt in for something nourishing, plumping and hydrating. Our lip prep is a tinted lip balm which can be a nice alternative to lipstick & lip gloss, and can be worn with either a full face, or no makeup at all. It can even be used in your skincare routine, or even to the gym! Check out the hero ingredients in this product. Warning: once you try it, you'll never go back.
8. LOCK IN YOUR LOOK
If you have an event on and you've opted for a more high-velocity glam over the ''barely there'' look, then you may need help locking in the look and protecting your face-beat from the wild humidity. Setting sprays will help with the longevity of your glam (plus it always feels quite nice when that fresh spritz hits!)
